- Is the same program offered for children attending 2 days or 3 days?
Yes, the educators and teachers provide the same program across all groups of children based on the individual needs of each child and their group. - Does my child need to be toilet trained?
Yes, they do need to be toilet trained. We do not have nappy changing facilities at the Kindy. Special circumstances are taken into consideration. Please discuss these with the Director. - My child has higher learning needs. Are you able to support them into the program?
Yes. We are an inclusive program and will work with you to support your child to transition into the program. We also work in collaboration with other health professionals to ensure we can support each child and their family to achieve the best outcomes. We have access to government funding that we can use to employ an educator to ensure all children are able to participate in the program at LGCK. - How do you prepare children for school?
We believe that children start to prepare for school from the first day they enter the Kindy. Children start to learn the social and emotional skills of being part of large and small groups, turn taking, sharing, negotiating, following directions, sitting, listening and contributing to discussions, developing their independence and confidence, and building strong communication skills with peers and adults. Their academic skills develop through the individual program that their teacher designs to support and extend their learning needs. - What school's do the children usually go to?
There are a number of schools that the children attend after leaving LGCK including:- Beaumont Road Public School
- Lindfield Public School
- Killara Public School
- Holy Family Catholic School
- Highfields
- The Learning Village
- Beaumont Road Public School
- How do we manage children's higher health needs (including Asthma and Anaphylaxis)?
All teachers and educators at LGCK have training in Senior First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis. If a child has higher health needs, they must provide us with an action plan from a Doctor. Children's individual health needs are communicated to all educators, teachers and staff. As we have had a number of children who have life threatening allergies to nuts, we are a NUT FREE Kindy. We ask that children do not bring food in that contains nuts.
