The Preschool operates as an independent, non-profit, community Preschool service. To operate a successful community based Preschool we need the active involvement of parents. There are two key ways that parents can support the Preschool:

Management Committee

The Management Committee consists of approximately 8 parents, one of whom must be a member of the Social Committee. The role of this committee includes:
  • Management of the general business and budget of the Kindergarten
  • Support for the Kindergarten Director and staff

This committee consists entirely of volunteers from the parents of enrolled children. All parents are eligible to join the Management Committee and we ask that you consider contributing your time, skills and efforts in one of the following positions:

  • Executive Office Bearers
    • President
    • Vice President
    • Secretary
    • Treasurer
  • General Committee Members
  • Community Members - members of the local community who have a connection with the Preschool (for example, their own child attended in previous years) and who continue to sit on the committee to bring a broader community perspective.

Elected office bearers and committee members maintain these positions until the AGM the following year. Please note that prior experience on committees is not necessary. To assist new Committee Members a "training course" on management responsibilities is offered following the AGM. The position of Treasurer needs preferably to be filled by a parent with an accounting or finance background.

Management Committee meetings are held monthly during term.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will normally be held on the last Thursday in February.

Social Committee

This committee organises events throughout the year providing opportunities for social gatherings for families. It is elected at the Annual General Meeting in February. The Social Committee operates as a sub-committee of the Management Committee but cannot exist without the support and patronage of the parent body.

It consists of:
  • President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • General Members

The Social Committee meets through the year, the frequency of meetings depending on events and activities. Parents are welcome to attend committee meetings. A member of the Social Committee also attends meetings of the General Management Committee.

We hope you will consider some involvement with the Social Committee, either by becoming a committee member or by volunteering to help out at specific events.
